Captain Herman Haddaway was born and raised in Talbot County, Maryland, right along the shores of the Chesapeake Bay. As a third-generation waterman, his roots run deep in the Eastern Shore’s fishing heritage. From a young age, he learned the rhythms of the water—crabbing, oystering, and chasing rockfish alongside his father and grandfather. His lifelong connection to the Bay gives him a natural understanding of local fish behavior, tides, and seasonal patterns that few can match.
With decades of experience behind the helm, Captain Herman brings both knowledge and patience to every trip. He tailors each outing to match his guests’ skill levels and interests, whether it’s teaching a beginner how to cast or guiding a seasoned angler to prime trolling lanes. He’s especially known for targeting Chesapeake Bay favorites like Striped Bass, White Perch, Bluefish, and Spanish Mackerel, using a mix of traditional and modern techniques. His calm demeanor and steady leadership keep guests relaxed and confident throughout the day.
Captain Herman also guides specialized bowfishing trips for Bull Nose Stingrays in June and runs Trophy Striped Bass trips in the spring—where fish over 40 inches are often brought aboard. From May through November, his light tackle trips using live bait offer dynamic, hands-on fishing for a wide range of species. No matter the season, Captain Herman shares his deep respect for the Bay and ensures that each outing is both memorable and informative.
